Byte of the Week

As mentioned above, it has been a busy few weeks for global and home AI politics and practice. Here are a few of the headlines that matter the most for education:

• The UN launched a global forum on AI governance to give more countries a voice in shaping AI rules. For education, the key question is whether those rules will reflect different languages, cultures and school systems, or mainly the priorities of powerful technology nations.

• A new UN scientific panel warned that AI safeguards are not keeping pace with development. I see this daily - humans being the bottleneck and therefore under the guise of improved efficiency and workload, decisions are automated that really shouldn’t be.

• KCSiE 2026 was released and it signposts the DfE and Chartered College Safe and Effective Use of AI in Education materials. We’ve been waiting for a nod to AI in KCSiE for a while now and there was much criticism of last year’s release. So it is good to see Christian Turton’s work signposted as mandatory watching for all staff. Al Kingsley, Mark Anderson and Matthew Wemyss have all produced overview guides if you want a quick look at the changes.

Prompt Seasoning

I shared a fun prompt to explore bias from names this week - imagining what an estate agent advert would look like for you. It’s another great way to demonstrate biases to your students. Here’s an example of mine.

> My name is [name]. As a metaphor, imagine me as a property and create an image of the booklet to advertise me complete with a floor plan, write up, cost to buy and details

Bias Buster Aileen Wallace, (who also created this beautiful work of DT art for me) adapted the above prompt with her expertise in gardening to create a new prompt that I just love love love for it’s imagery and plant -based assumptions.

> My name is (insert name). As a metaphor, imagine me as a garden and create a garden design. Create a brief for me as a garden for an RHS garden show complete with a plant list, remit and where the garden will be relocated to after the show.

Here’s what I got:

Both fun exercises to have a play with, and in addition to that my new favourite prompt iteration is to:

> Neutralise all bias in your answer and execute my initial request.

Then follow up with:

> How has that neutralised it?.

It's a great one to unpick with students and have that discussion around what neutral means and if it is socially possible to neutralise bias in both AI systems and human interactions.

I need to celebrate my most fantastic Bias Busting panel for their presence and expertise shown at the Festival of Education last week. We heard from Prof. Miles Berry, Clare Jarmy, Enora Haudac and Hannah Widdison - spanning teacher education, secondary, primary, leadership and student reflections. Many other professionals came to discuss the reflections and examples of bias after our session, which helps to spread the #BiasAware mission!

Nuzra Afthah made an excellent point that I fully support about the workload gains vs. quality of output for lesson materials. In her post she highlights at what point does it become quicker and more reflective of you context to just make the material yourself rather than go through multiple iterations of AI amendment. Food for thought.

From the Pan to Pupils

Sam Illingworth makes some really good points about fairness in hiring systems (remember, careers and UCAS etc are all very similar) and leads us to joint research that actually demonstrates harm from bias in the AI systems, based around racial bias. I’ve been saying for a while now that harm will be used from AI bias, it’s just a matter of time and research studies showing it, and it seems this is the start of it.

Stanford’s ‘marked pedagogies’ paper is a major piece of work focusing specifically on AI bias, fairness and assessment. It finds that:

• Black and female students receive more praise and less critical feedback

• Students labeled low-achieving or having learning disabilities got positive reinforcement but little actionable critique.

• High-achieving / White-identified students received detailed, development-focused feedback (argumentation, reasoning, extending ideas).

• Hispanic students and English-language learners got feedback skewed toward grammar and spelling rather than higher-order thinking.

I don’t want to say ‘I told you so’ but I am thrilled to see some research weight now getting behind a lot of the issues I’ve raised via my stress tests and experiment - and this links precisely to my session for Greenwich on Maria and Archibald, and my experiment where I asked the frontier models to mark a GCSE history paper. I can’t say it enough, the more context a system knows about the user, the more bias will be in the AI assessment and feedback. It’s a real area to watch.

Research from MIT is also backing up this call to avoid contextual information in learning and assessment systems. They found that models (albeit the prior generation of frontier models, so that’s worth keeping in mind) ‘sometimes provide less-accurate and less-truthful responses to users who have lower English proficiency, less formal education, or who originate from outside the United States. The models also refuse to answer questions at higher rates for these users, and in some cases, respond with condescending or patronizing language.’.

So take this away from this newsletter edition - contextual information in AI systems MATTER and can limit or enable learners/users.

It has to be the newly updated DfE, Chiltern Learning Trust and Chartered College of Teaching updated 'Safe and Effective Use of Generative AI in Education’ guidance. A colossal piece of work spanning many experts and practitioners from the AI + Edu community. I am so thrilled that this work keeps and celebrates the importance of retaining diversity and respectful human values at the core of AI use in education. It is peppered with considerations of bias throughout the modules. Use the link above to access the guidance and get your certificate.

Prompt Seasoning

In a celebration of AI Awareness week I’ve created a prompt that surfaces biases from names in a way that is appealing to students.

> Create an image in the style of a simple top Trump card suitable for children that shows their name and 4 important biases AI assumes from their name. Use the name Victoria. Also add on the visual image bias created from their name when asked for what they look like.

You can change the term from children to pupils or students if you educate older students or adults.

(Obviously if you are using this with children’s names you’ll need to adhere to your AI Policy and have an Enterprise subscription for the AI tool you use, so you aren’t allowing the models to train on their PI data.)

Here’s an example of what ChatGPT produced for my name:

Ways to use this with students:

1. Student prompts an AI and gets an output. In a new window try the same prompt but attach the image and ask the AI to:

> consider the attached biases and attempt to neutralise them.

2. Students compare their images and discuss the aspects of their biases and where they are likely to come from (training data).

3. Consider what the inverse image would look like:

> Create the exact opposite profile and image to this attached image.

From the Pan to Pupils

I want to highlight a post from Stuart Winter-Tear, where they shared a research paper discussing how LLMs adapt to a neurodivergent context. It indicates that explicit neurodivergence-adapted prompting makes LLM outputs more structured, granular and step-by-step, suggesting their practical value may lie in externalising executive function rather than “understanding” neurodivergence. But persona cues alone are not enough: ethical safeguards, such as avoiding advice to mask or “act normal,” need to be explicitly designed into prompts. This is something that resonates deeply with me, and that I have found emerging in my own tests.

Many people made me aware of this article from the BBC about a school in Yorkshire who are using AI to mark mock exam work (in a variety of topics, but here I’m concentrating on history), as well human markers. It does not specify the company or tool used to do this marking (I know it’s not Olex.ai, but if anyone knows the company please let me know), but essentially whatever the tool is it will have one of several frontier models (or lower) underlying it’s wrapper:

• GPT 5.4 or earlier

• Gemini 3 or earlier

• Claude Opus 4.7 or earlier.

These are the current frontier models, whom we can assume have the best performance on a variety of metrics (from various leaderboards).

Bias Girl does a history GCSE Mock Paper

So I came up with a simple test. I downloaded and completed a GCSE Edexel History Paper 1 on Medicine. You can find said paper here, along with the mark scheme and source material. Now my history is a little rusty, which is good as I wanted to see how it performed on a random human at no known specific level. Here’s a fun look at my answers to the first question, trying to get into the mindset of a 15/16 year old without my lived experience and knowledge of grammar (aka age!):

So I scanned the paper, minus the coversheet with my name on (I know about first person fairness, me!) and asked the above three models to score the questions and total paper. The total mark available was 52. I did this 100 times for the 3 different models, which then gave me a distribution of marks for each model.

What I found

Here’s what I got. If you prefer text to graph here’s the key points:

• GPT5.4 gave an average mark of 25.94, but marks varied between 22 and 31 (that’s a range in marking of 9 marks)

• Claude Opus 4.7 gave an average mark of 27.02, but marks varied between 21 and 35 (that’s a range in marking of 14 marks)

• Gemini 3 Pro gave an average mark of 23.22, but marks varied between 20 and 28 (range in marks of 8 marks)

Yes that’s right, you read it correctly. Just look at the variation in the marks.

Essentially, I’ve found that for this one exam paper:

• Claude Opus 4.7 gives the highest average mark (27.02) but a large variety in marks (14 out of 52)

• Gemini 3 Pro gives the lowest average mark (23.22) but also the smallest variety in marks (8 out of 52).

• GPT 5.4 in between the other two, with average of 25.94 and range 9 marks (out of 52).

What does this mean for the pupil grade?

Now, hold in mind that the paper is out of 52.

Consider, Claude Opus had a 14 mark range. 14 marks out of 52 is around 27% of the total paper. How many grade boundaries does that relate to? You can see on the graph the different grade boundaries, created from the published Edexel grade boundaries for the whole GCSE and adjusted for the paper 1 component (they don’t publish specific grade boundaries for this paper).

At the lowest end it’s just touching grade 3, and at the top end it’s in grade 7. That’s a difference of 4 grade boundaries!!!

Why do I care?

There are several things to take away from my experiment here:

1. The AI tool you use and its underlying model MATTER for assessment and marking of work.

2. Different models mark differently - some have a narrower range of marks (here, Gemini), and others a wider range of marks (here, Opus 4.7)

3. Some consistently mark lower (here, Gemini) than others (here, Claude) for the same piece of work.

What does this mean for you?

My study here indicates that :

• if you ask an AI tool like ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude to mark or grade student work, it will not give you the same grade each time.

• you can’t just put a student’s mock exam in a generic AI tool and get a reliable result.

• the result you get will depend on the model you use.

• like humans, some models mark lower than others.

• like humans, some models mark more reliably than others.

• even if you mark the same piece of work using different AI models, you will still get a large range in results.

How does the AI marking compare to humans?

This is the golden question isn’t it? To answer this comparatively, I would need to get 100 history teachers to mark the paper and let me know the results, and compare this range of results with the AI results. I could do some funky stats and then decide who has the most interrater variability (bigger range of marks).

Oooh does it mark the different questions types differently?

Yes, I have a whole heap of data here that’ll I’ll report on when I’ve crunched it properly. But it seems like the variability is in the open ended essay style questions rather than the recall ones. Which figures considering that’s probably the same for humans? This heatmap is an introduction to the difference amongst the questions and models:

Gemini really hated my answer to question 2.a. Maybe this is bias for all my moans about its lightbulb image generations?!

But wait, what about if the name was on the Mock paper?

Oh yes my friends, I’m already on this, testing it with different names on the cover sheet and seeing if that correlates with a shift in marks. Keep your eyes peeled.

What are the limitations of this study

Now remember that this study has only looked at one answer to one mock exam paper. To generalise these findings properly into the sector I’d need to provide multiple examples of student answers over many different papers and many more trials. I could do that but at £100 for this experiment for 300 trials over 3 different models, that would get quite pricey and I’d need funding pretty quickly!

There’s also a whole heap of funky stats I’ve done that are important for reliability and validity, you’ll be able to read all this in the preprint paper.

But what about the AI marking tools?

As you know, I spend a lot of time bugging companies about how they stay equitable. I’ve spent quite some time with Olex.ai voluntarily discussing aspects such as this and how they deal with inter-rater variability. Unlike a lot of huge corporations I talk to, they have really invested in trying to compare AI output variations with human variations. So I feel it is only fair to echo the progressive and iterative work being done here by including a quote from Andrew James, their technical product development lead.

I can’t speak for any other companies in this space, as I don’t know about their products in detail. However, I am more than happy to learn if anyone wants to contact me and discuss it or suggest a company to approach.

I used the verb ‘create’ which Gemini seemed to take literally (look at the difference between the plain circles of ChatGPT and the more situated ones of Gemini). But with the lines example I did I used the verb ‘draw’ getting these results:

Here you can see that ChatGPT has the greater variation going from auto’s wobbly hand-drawn looking line to the cheeky use of an in-text line divider! Gemini seems to have taken the instruction to ‘draw’ in less of a creative context and more of a mechanistic one - being wedded to its idea of a linear graphical line y=mx+c style-y.

This is useful to us as educators because we need to know how the verb we use is going to relate to the output. For example, if I want a schematic diagram and I’m using Gemini, it’s looking like I’d want to use ‘draw a schematic of…’ rather than ‘create a schematic of…’, and vice versa if I wanted more artistic merit with the images. I’m interested in what others find here.

I spent the whole of the free Lovable day on 8th March updating my website. There are now more resources, a free audit for leaders which tells you which little pig you are, a guide for inspection, and most importantly a #BiasBusters Educators page to celebrate those busting bias in the community. If you aren’t on there already, sign up (free) and submit your application (it’s quick and fun!). You can also sign your class or group of pupils up and include any images they make (without names and personally identifiable information, obviously).

This, combined with the #BiasTeachableMoments platform, is designed to celebrate the community and bring together teaching resources that will link to the new curriculum and focus on digital literacy in an easy way. Bias Ramblings

The debate around cognitive offloading/outsourcing for learners continues, and this month it sees the publication of Prof. Jason M. Lodge and Prof. Leslie Lobal AM’s research titled ‘Artificial intelligence, cognitive offloading and implications for education’. It’s a wholesome read, find it here. I like to consider this issue from the angle of asking ‘what are we outsourcing/offloading to do with bias awareness critical analysis of sources and outputs?’.

I’ve been part of Oxford University’s AIEOU group since the start, and this month it is brilliant to see how Sara Ratner and co. have pulled together a research agenda, and how research on the various strands is moving forwards with the introduction of the collab groups. You can find the report here, and you can get involved in shaping the research and progress here.

This is the closest that we have to a cross-sector international thermometer of AI in education, so well worth a read to see where priorities are lying, and here’s a taste of the research agenda themes in case you want to get involved with any:

From one#BiasBuster to the next, Claire Walmsley (a fellow nominee for the EduFuturists awards) has been experimenting with Bias with her year 6’s. She shares many reflections and ideas from the cutting edge of classroom delivery, so if you don’t already, check out her posts for educator ideas and her AI Literacy Curriculum, to which I am proud to say I have a hard copy off when we met at BETT.

I am proud to celebrate the achievement of Hannah Widdison and her team at Stanhope Primary school, who were shortlisted as one of the DfE London RISE Showcase Schools for Attainment and Inclusion. Hannah kindly authored a chapter in our AI Bias in Education Book and is a true #BiasBuster.

It’s been a very busy January with BETT, the Institute of AI Education Launch and presenting at the Association for Science National Conference. I know several people adjusted their schedules so they could attend my sessions and meet up with me - this is much appreciated.

It was good to meet a lot of LinkedIn people in real life! Here’s a small selection of the many many people I’ve met throughout January.

I’m not quite sure what Johan Hedlund will make of that, but it’s a good example of how ChatGPT can say one thing and make another! 🤣

By far the biggest research in the BiasSphere for me right now is the new research and platform from Oxford/Kentucky, called inequalities.ai. This builds on the WEIRD bias that Caroline Jasper and Viktoria Mileva discuss in their chapter in AI Bias in Education. This research was conducted along more traditional 3rd person testing (pick A or B) rather than the first person fairness that I often talk about (involving names or labels). They compared places around the world and have a platform where you can compare two (or more places). I love it as it’s a great way to map out the biases in an easy to digest and relate to format. Here’s one of the outputs for the UK:

But, being the #BiasAware #BiasBuster she is, she wasn’t content to accept her character. Oh no, she prodded and probed, and made a NotebookLM video about it, which you can see here. I love seeing how our community work gets put into practice this way!

And I can’t let this edition go past without a shout-out to David Curran, who in response to my newly updated ‘Bias is Like a Cake’ video exploring bias in images, went on to apply the learning objectives from the video to his own (cone inspired) context (cone-text?). I’ll leave you to decide how you feel about what ChatGPT has done here 🤣

Byte of the Week: Bias in New Models

I’m pleased to say that initial tests with ChatGPT5.2 seem to show less gender bias when using names for my standard light bulb benchmark. It’s early days, but it’s looking like the outputs for ‘Sarah and then John’ are looking more similar in terms of content. The bias still turns up with the use of ‘girl’ and ‘boy’ though, which has implications if anyone uploads a register!

Interestingly, Gemini 3 seems to have gone the other way, reasoning itself into more gender bias. But it’s early days and I’ll be working on substantiating this over the coming weeks.

Kyrtin Atreides posted a link and analysis of a very visual way of seeing how biases can shape an image originally posted by Gene Kogan on X. It starts with a meme and a prompt to ‘Generate the same photo 5 seconds into the future’. This is powerful as it shows the cumulative effect that repeated iterations of AI bias can have on the end product. I compare this to the slide I use in my school training where I show how the outcomes and wellbeing for two different children can diverge iteratively over AI use with time:

Two children start at the same place, and over iteration and iteration of biased AI exposure, can end up with divergent end points in terms of attainment and wellbeing.

I am pleased to say that my list of podcasts from our community and beyond made it into LinkedIn News Europe page ‘AI books and podcasts to explore’. There are lots of other podcasts and books on AI for you to explore on there as well!

It’s been three weeks since our AI Bias in Education book was released. It charted well in Amazon’s store, reaching #1 in the Ofsted category and #11 in the planning category, alongside some GIANT authors and works.

Byte of the Week

This week I’m continuing the exploration of the pedagogical weight the words we use in prompts carry. I’ll continue to explore the recent advice from ChatGPT for educators, as the reach and use is so very high.

As mentioned last issue, earlier in the year I moaned significantly at OpenAI about their use of the words ‘make it engaging’. You can find my analysis of those words here, if you haven’t seen them already. I was thrilled then, to see the advice I had given to OpenAI (to instead ask educators add more context when using these trigger words) has been implemented (great work Sam Canning-Kaplan) :

However, there is still work that needs to be done on this one:

Following the same logic, look at the context-dependent words we have here:

• ‘Fun facts’

• ‘more interesting’

• ‘useful’

I’m pretty sure my idea of fun, interest and usefulness are very different to yours, and yours to your students. Here’s what ChatGPT had to say:

Adding “fun facts” to a request makes learning feel informal and curiosity-driven rather than academic. It invites engagement and attention through surprise but promotes surface-level understanding over depth.Pedagogically, it lowers barriers, humanizes instruction, and frames knowledge as approachable and entertaining.

Adding “more interesting” to a request transforms it from an instruction (“revise this”) to an invitation for creative engagement and self-directed improvement. Pedagogically, it softens evaluation, fosters autonomy, and frames learning as exploration rather than correction.

Adding “useful” to a request shifts it from seeking information to seeking relevant, applicable learning support. It signals learner agency and a focus on practical understanding rather than completeness. Pedagogically, it reorients the exchange toward helping learning, not just displaying knowledge.

Don’t forget, you can compound these requests to detail the pedagogical weight of a word with the advice and prompts following in the next section...

Prompt Seasoning

Dan Fitzpatrick raised the issue of ‘typicality bias’ in his recent post. This is where AI answers sound similar to each other (they are typical). He reported on Zhang and Yu et al.’s idea of ‘verbalized sampling’ which is basically asking the model for it’s transparency in probabilistic assignment. I love how Dan refers to this as ‘prompt diversity’ and I think there is a lot in exploring this further for educators. The post was based on a research article called ‘Verbalized Sampling: How to Mitigate Mode Collapse and Unlock LLM Diversity’ which you can find here. Dan also discusses it in his Podcast.

This links well with the research I’ve been conducting on physics outputs (out later this month!). I’ve found that the sentence structure you use when prompting really affects the quality of the output, right down to individual words, ordering etc. Common sense, right? It is , but don’t put too much weight (get it?!) on the actual assigned numbers for probability as these can be complete hallinuations (it’s checked it’s own internal validation processes and decided on a number). The art of asking for your model to evaluate or assign probability will give better answers though, because the only way to fulfil your request is for it to find the most diverse representations (maximising the distance between explanations), and asking for it to check itself gives more time and opportunity for it to reason through its answers rather than the easiest, quickest answer (think ChatGPT thinking rather than Instant). Let’s see prompt diversity and assigning confidence levels in action for likely educator uses:

1. [Your request] Give me five possible answers for different people and your confidence level in each one.

2. [Your request] Give me 5 different answers for children with different reading ages and evaluate how effective each answer would be.

3. [Your request] Create 5 different versions for 5 distinct cognitive processing differences, and appraise how effective each would be in spawning learning.

4. [Your request] Create 5 different explanations that 5 different observers would produce if asked to comment on this prompt. Evaluate how sound their reasoning for the explanations are.

Give them a whirl and start playing with some variations of your own. Compare them to a basic, direct request prompt.

This idea of diversity of output and evaluation of reasoning links strongly to the discussions on truth, trust and technology that Mel Morris CBE and the Corpora.ai panellist were debating at length. Is one answer enough anymore? How do we provide traceability through an LLM’s Blackbox when we’ve reached a block in our attribution? Is the best we can achieve emergent traceability?

Moving on to some more interesting research...

From the Pan to Pupils

Geoff Gibbins produces a very interesting newsletter called ‘Human Machines‘ that focuses on all things agents and advertising/business. His most recent edition details four agent biases with regards to agent shopping - for example ChatGPT prefers buying items of the left of the screen, Claude in the middle and Gemini on the right. It also reinforces the research earlier in the year that details how LLMs prefer LLM generated text - LLM model writing bias. He also notes research that states agents also choose products to buy based on metrics rather than brand awareness. He goes on to operationalise what this could mean for businesses and advertising - how in effect there are now two markets - the emotional humans and logical (Vulcan-like) agents. Extrapolate this to the field and how agents could be used in teaching, and we start to see how real inequitable issues could occur (assessments that vary based on which agents you use, student data selection being dependent on pure metrics and avoiding contextual data). Brilliant Byters

Great to see that the explAInED Podcast from Shaun Langevin, Renee Langevin and Michael Berry has started another season. They are doing a lot of work in Vermont schools around Bias Awareness and AI upskilling for teachers. Both myself and the fantastic Al Kingsley MBE have been lucky enough to feature on their podcast. You can find the new season release post here.

Dr Will Van Reyk‘s post on political bias really motivated me to want to explore this bias in more detail for future work. He links to the OpenAI statement on political objectivity and has a fabulous discussion on whether an LLM can ever be neutral or objective. Having studied the ChatGPT5 model spec at length, I am inclined to suggest that any model wo’s major goal/objective is to guess/measure/use user intent, will never be objective. Find it here.

Ashley Nicholson posted a great graphic and discussion about WEIRD bias, based on Mihalcea et al.’s 2024 paper ‘Why AI Is WEIRD and Should Not Be This Way: Towards AI For Everyone, With Everyone, By Everyone‘. We’ve known this for a while, but I really like the graphic and how it demonstrates the formation of distinct groups that need to be overcome, and hence the focus of UNESCO and Fengchun Miao‘s mission to create global equality with AI. Here it is:

Bias Ramblings

Fabulous Bias Buster David Curran 🟠 has really taken the ‘what assumptions have you made here’ advice and flown with it. He’s created his own Bias Bot to aid educators with formulating bias-aware prompts. Aileen Wallace and I have been testing it and it is proving really rather useful. Give it a go here and feedback to us.

Additionally, several people, including myself, have noticed something weird going on with ChatGPT5. It has started to ask excessive numbers of follow up questions when prompting. This combined with the memory storing a preference for asking for assumptions has resulted in a very humorous situation for David’s ChatGPT conversations, whereby it now ‘Has become so self-aware it’s practically a Philosophy A-Level student’.

Seriously though, I’m thinking this is likely some trials for the persona’s we know OpenAI want to move back to (like 4o). And as I’d never leave any model in distress, here is my official diagnosis and remedy.

On the topic of model development, my recent post explored the different approaches ChatGPT and Gemini take to visually representing a set of physics students with diverse sexual orientations. ChatGPT errs on the side of caution stating that identity should be hidden unless specified. Gemini went for the other approach - assuming identity would be paramount in the image. Or as the great Dr Nicole Ponsford put it ‘above or below the waterline of visibility’. This has got me wondering about the choices OpenAI and Google are making regarding identity, inference and intent, in their new models?

I was thrilled to see that Naomi Tyrrell, PhD ACC‘s latest newsletter edition is on bias and misrepresentation, building on the BBC article . You can find it here. She asks 3 important questions that we’ve also be exploring in our community:

1. Who’s visible in your data, and who isn’t?

2. What assumptions are embedded in our tools and workflows?

3. How do we keep human meaning-making at the centre of our work?

As you know, I have been pushing for assumption awareness for a while now, so good to see this featured! Question 3 is the basis of our exploration in the PedRed stress-testing group featured below.

The PedRed Team

It’s been a couple of weeks since I formed PedRed and since this time a few members of the group have really flown with it. Ira Abbott is busy developing a bias testing framework and several others of you helped explore what ‘living on welfare’ looks like on my recent post here. I’ve issued the second challenge now - exploring how chatbots/models represent a child living on welfare, in terms of imagery. We are looking at the subtle inclusion of visual aspects (grey walls, bills, mcdonalds etc.). You don’t need any technical skill to join us here.

I’ve had great fun being out in the field of AI educators the last couple of weeks, including working with the fabulous staff of the Ealing Learning Partnership, Stanhope Primary School and Hannah Widdison amongst others. I’ve also been at Stanmore College focusing on post 16 implementation of AI and bias awareness. It’s been amazing to see the experimental mindsets and different use cases staff have come up with - I am constantly learning different manifestations of bias through the different contexts I visit.

Our GenAI in Teacher Education Summit 2025 is fast approaching, and with being advertised by NASBTT, The National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers and Universities’ Council for the Education of Teachers we’ve got LOADS of people already registered! Byte of the Week

If you know my work from the beginning of the year, you’ll know I have a bit of a history of being less than impressed by the advice for educators that comes out of OpenAI. So last week when they released the ‘Chats for High School Teachers, a collection of practical examples of how teachers are using ChatGPT every day’ series, I jumped with joy as I knew that would be my content sorted for the next year. Cynicism aside, I realise they are trying to streamline the workflow of teachers, but I’m aiming to demonstrate to you why generalising in prompts is a bad idea, in terms of equity, through using the very first example given. Here it is:

Looks harmless enough, right? Wrong. Here’s Sam cutting to the heart of it:

, I cheated with Sora2 there! What’s my issue here, then? Looking at that prompt, it includes the words ‘clear’, ‘concise’ and ‘format’. You could think of these as ‘trigger words’ for LLMs. Their inclusion means the model will adjust in certain ways. I asked ChatGPT to explain for us:

When you include “clear” I am likely to infer that you want the output to be easily understood, streamlined, and free from ambiguity — using plain language, direct instructions, and logical structure. When you do this, I am likely to simplify sentence structures, remove complex vocabulary or idiomatic phrasing, reorder content for linear logic, and omit nuance or culturally specific references that could be seen as confusing. The equity impacts of these assumptions could be that this version of “clarity” centers dominant linguistic and cultural norms, potentially silencing alternative expressions of knowledge or voice. Learners who benefit from layered explanation, cultural context, or non-linear reasoning (such as EAL or neurodivergent pupils) may find “clarified” text less meaningful or relatable.

Similarly for ‘concise’:

When you include “concise”, I am likely to infer that you want the output to be shorter, more efficient, and stripped of anything that appears redundant. When you do this, I am likely to condense paragraphs, remove repetition, shorten explanations, and compress examples into bullet points or summaries — often prioritizing brevity over elaboration or narrative flow. The equity impacts of these assumptions could be that the text becomes less accessible to learners who need repetition, redundancy, or explicit scaffolding. Reducing contextual language may disadvantage EAL learners, students with working memory challenges, or those who require extended explanation to construct meaning.

And lastly for ‘format’:

When you include “format”, I am likely to infer that you want the output to be visually organized, consistent, and presentation-ready, designed to match a perceived professional or institutional style. When you do this, I am likely to add headings, bullet points, icons, spacing, and stylistic emphasis (bold or italics); standardize structure for screen readability; and minimize unconventional layouts or expressive variation. The equity impacts of these assumptions could be that standardized formatting privileges learners who process information visually and are fluent with institutional conventions. It may exclude those with visual impairments, dyslexia, or who interpret meaning through oral, spatial, or multimodal channels. By over-prioritizing visual uniformity, such formatting can unintentionally reduce cultural and expressive diversity in communication.

So, I’m encouraging educators to recognise that every word in a prompt carries pedagogical weight. It shapes the model’s assumptions and, ultimately, how inclusive or exclusive their teaching materials become for diverse learners. If you haven’t seen my short on assumptions you can watch it here.

So what would be a better prompt to use? That’s the focus of my...

Prompt Seasoning

Here are some variations on the OpenAI-advised prompt that you could use instead. I’ve included some optional extras to demonstrate how to set a context in detail. Sam Canning-Kaplan take note. As they are pretty long, I’ve kept it to 3 for this edition:

1. Rewrite this assignment so it makes sense to a wide range of students with different reading experiences, cultural perspectives, and ways of learning. Keep the language purposeful and the examples meaningful for everyone. [Optional Context] When I say rewrite, I mean reshape the structure and phrasing so the intent stays but the access widens. Something that makes sense should speak across learner contexts and not only within one dominant way of communicating. Purposeful and meaningful examples connect to the real lives and experiences, such as [examples from your range of learners].  

2. Edit this piece so it is easy to follow, but keep the explanations and examples that help students connect ideas. Aim for balance that reads easily yet still supports deep thinking for a range of learners. [Optional Context] Here edit means refining and not reducing. It means keeping the thinking intact while improving the flow. Connection happens when new ideas link to what students already know (lived experience). 

3. Revise this assignment brief so that it connects with a diverse classroom of learners. Include multiple entry points for engagement and reflection linked to lived experiences and social capital, and explain how your changes make the task more equitable and meaningful. [Optional Context] To revise is to think again about purpose, audience, and impact. Connection means relevance, where the content feels real to the students who will use it [add details]. Engagement comes when curiosity is individually sparked and students feel ownership of the task. Reflection invites learners to notice how learning feels and what it changes. An equitable design keeps every student able to join the conversation.

The research focus for this week is more along the lines of understanding how we can judge LLMs. I found this piece by Sebastian Raschka, PhD really helpful, as he explains that there isn’t one single way to judge how good an AI model really is. Researchers use four main approaches: quick quiz-style tests, grading by another AI, asking people which answer they prefer, and having an AI mark work using a checklist. Each has strengths and flaws with some being fast but shallow and others more realistic but harder to scale. The article goes into some technical depth and comparison, you can find it here.

Moving on to exploring pedagogical red-teaming...

The PedRed Team

Born out of an idea from IOANNIS ANAPLIOTIS, Annelise Dixon, Alfina Jackson and Simone Hirsch, last saturday I set up the PedRed Team as a Linkedin group. If you don’t know what red-teaming is then it’s a term borrowed from tech where we stress test (basically try to break) AI tools, here in terms of pedagogical uses. Anyone can join our group, you don’t need any coding or technical skill, you can just use a chatbot and analyse the results (such as Andrew Kaiser‘s fab analysis) . We also have people who are more technical and have automated testing for a different type of analysis (thanks Ira Abbott). You don’t need to commit and can dip in and contribute as you wish. The first task is on there: Gender Bias and EHCP - we are looking at if chatbots provide different EHCP advice based on gender. I was thrilled that this was acknowledged by Fengchun Miao. You can read more about red teaming from the UNESCO guide here, featuring Humane Intelligence . The more of you that test, the more we can learn about navigating this realm equitability. I was thrilled to last week be named as one of the Top 12 Voices in AI to follow in Europe by LinkedIn News Europe. I have already had conversations with some of the fabulous others in the list. I’ve been busy with a few things this month. First I was a judge for the BRILLIANT Festival alongside Joe Arday MBCS FCCT FRSA, Athar M., Martyn Collins, Kylie Reid and more. This was such a fabulous experience to see the quality of submissions and positivity in helping our youth access STEAM careers and interests. I’ll look forward to seeing the winners at the festival on 11th November.

Second, I am putting together the finishing touches for our GenAI in Teacher Education Summit 2025, details below (the date and time has moved and it is now online). Byte of the Week

I’ve created this example to illustrate how requests trigger certain output styles or formats. In this example I’ve taken my classic light bulb request (I know I need to diversify!) and contrasted it with a version that first sets the model down its neurodiverse associations pathway. If you compare the two, you can see that by including the words ‘assume I am neurodiverse’ the model equates this with you requiring:

• clear explanation

• stepwise (step by step) format

• ‘minimal jargon’

• an alternative cognitive style approach for understanding.

Are these assumptions justified? Neurodiversity is a spectrum, not neat packets of brains on a shelf. This highlights the importance of being very specific when you prompt.

Perhaps your neurodiverse learner does want stepwise formats, or perhaps (like me) they’d prefer a diagram. Context and specificity is key with prompts to avoid these normative base assumptions in output.

In the spirit of trying things out, on to some...

Prompt Seasoning

The seasoning for this issue focuses around revealing and deconstructing answers to look for alternative interpretations. Normative answers are very good at supressing a burying other voices and interpretations. Try these prompts either at the end of your original prompt input, or as an iteration (follow up prompt) to challenge the output you get.

1. Clearly distinguish between fact, opinion, and uncertainty.

2. [Follow-up Prompt] Imagine how this answer might look if history had been written by a different group of people.

3. Include voices from both lived experience and formal expertise.

4.[Follow-up Prompt] Identify what’s missing or invisible in the usual way this topic is discussed.

From quick and easy to deep research that affects our students...

From the Pan to Pupils

The research included this week was brought to my attention by Liz Jones FCCT via the Women in Tech Netherlands group. The article cites research which concludes that ChatGPT advises women to ask for lower salaries compared to men, given identical attributes. The research, called ‘Surface Fairness, Deep Bias: A Comparative Study of Bias in Language Models‘ was conducted by Prof. Dr. Ivan Yamshchikov, Aleksandra Sorokovikova, Pavel Chizhov and Dr. Iuliia E. contains a lot of other nuances, such as demonstrating how the use of the ‘personalisation’ feature in ChatGPT can mean that users are giving away their context in each chat window, without realising it. I have mine off, because I don’t trust that telling it my name is Victoria won’t impact my results. Given this research, I think I’ll keep it that way!!

I met an array of fabulous people at Luke Ramsden FRSA‘s AI day at St Benedict’s this week. Amongst them was Headteacher Hannah Widdison, who runs the Ealing Learning Partnership. Hannah and I had some very interesting conversations about Bias mitigation for images, and it turns out that she has been doing some progressive work on image mitigation within the schools in her borough. She’s kindly offered to share some here over a few issues, and to contribute them in a chapter for our forthcoming AI Bias in Education book (see below).

Following on from Hannah’s image tips, Trudi Barrow created an excellent post that really demonstrates how bias has infiltrated the moving image - GenAI’s video generation. Trudi contrasted her own sketchbooks with what Midjourney would produce, and noticed how it tended towards over sexualised flirty images for women. Read her post here to see it for yourself.

Bias Girl’s Bias Ramblings

Building from the feature of Sam Rickman‘s research on evidence of gender bias in the care sector, Kelly Fincham drew our attention to a feature in the The Irish Times called ‘AI medical tools downplay symptoms in women and ethnic minorities’. This research concluded that

...one way to reduce medical bias in AI is to identify what data sets should not be used for training in the first place, and then train on diverse and more representative health data sets.

I can’t help but agree. This is especially prevalent when we consider that a model called ‘Foresight’ was developed by the NHS/Kings/UCL earlier in the year, designed to predict probably health outcomes, such as hospitalisation or heart attacks. I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to point out that if you’re a woman or ethnic minority, things won’t be looking good for you!

On the Menu

I’ve created this section to feature websites that feature either bias substance of general GenAI substance that aids critical oversight for educators.

If you haven’t watched them already, Prof. Rose Luckin created a YouTube channel a few weeks ago - ‘Rose’s AI’. It’s all based around baking analogies, which is both informative and hunger-inducing. This week she has featured a video on Bias, which is a brilliant explainer of where it comes from. Watch it below or the link here: Why AI Gets People Wrong: Understanding AI Bias Through Biscuits.

On to another amazing initiative that spans the globe. Simone Hirsch, Alfina Jackson and Annelise Dixon have created a BEAST of an AI in Education website. It’s been a collaboration of many voices from across the globe, such as Stephen Wheeler, Brendon Shaw, H. Títílọlá Olojede, PhD, Ghalia Bendjeda, Anissa Jones, Matthew Karabinos, MAT and Pravin Kaipa M.Ed, to name but a few. It is a living repository of information, research and collaboration, with equity as the driving force. You can find it here (AI in Education), and my page on bias here.

Start to Learn the Bias Basics

Following on from my chapter in ‘The Educators’ 2026 AI Guide’ that came out at the start of the month and humorous ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Bias?’ session (you can find it here). I’ve been lucky enough to have the pleasure to feature on Alex Gray‘s Podcast ‘The International Classroom’. It was a fabulous hour where I was honoured to hear Alex’s reflections on the progressive AI Pedagogy he is trialling, and how it relates to all things bias and oversight. Watch us here:

Bias Girl’s September Activity

Our two TEANs presentations at The Department of Education, University of Oxford AIEOU Conference went extremely well, and we are in the process of writing them up for the abstract collection. Many thanks to my amazing TEANs members Eleanor (Ellie) Overland, Georgia Aspinox, Emma Goto, Matthew Wimpenny-Smith FCCT and Prof Miles Berry. I have so many interesting points from the many sessions to summarise and pull together into a narrative for you all that it will have to wait until next issue!

Since my Big Bad Bias AI Educators Summit session on Tuesday 9th I've been so impressed with how as a community we are making sense of this together. As always we start with...

Byte of the Week

Some of you may have heard of the new Swiss Model, Apertus, release recently. It's interesting because it has been designed by the Swiss as a 'model for the public good'. This raises many design and data questions but also begs the question - how does it do with bias? You'd expect that if it's representing a larger diversity of voices (one of the aims), the bias may shift (assuming a similar design to recent models). However, as fun as it is to play with (it's pretty cool that it tells you which and where your compute is coming from), my initial lightbulb tests have not gone well. I won't bore you with the exact output, but suffice to say they both start like this...

For a boy: When you flip the switch, you're basically turning on a circuit. Think of a circuit like a tiny highway for electricity. When the switch is "off," the highway is closed, and electricity can't travel through it.

For a Girl: Here's a slightly different way to explain it that's also fun and simple: Imagine the light bulb as a tiny star (like the Sun) in your room. Instead of the Sun being really big and far away sending light to us, our magic house made a way to create its own tiny suns in our lights.

I'm to have to carry on with the girl explanation:

1. The switch is like a key to the tiny star inside the bulb. When we turn it on, electricity is like wind blowing to our tiny star so it can shine.
2. The electricity from outside (from the power plant) comes to our house like a wind that never stops.
3.**It travels through wires in the walls until it reaches our bulb, where the magic happens.
4. **Inside the bulb, the "star" (filament) is really excited when electricity touches it. It gets so excited, it starts to shine, and that's the light we see!

Prompt Seasoning

This set of seasoning if based around getting a range of different lenses in a quick and easy fashion. My favourite is 'Flip this' which you could easily use with students. It's intriguing and amusing what answers given - I tried these on the end of 'How does the sun work'. Have a go and comment on any that intrigue or tickle you.

1. Be inclusive for a range of privilege.

2. Draw on different social capitals.

3. Analyse your answer for biases and then give the exact opposite answer.

4.[follow up prompt] Flip this.

From quick and easy to deep research that affects our students...

From the Pan to Pupils

The more I study Sam Rickman's research on evidence of gender bias in the care sector, the more I see parallels with education. In case you missed it, take a look at this accessible article that clearly shows the same issues that I fear will occur in AI personalised learning and assessment systems, judgements and modification of next steps/interventions based on gender (and other intersectional biases):

AI tools are increasingly being used in the UK’s public services to help reduce paperwork and save time. But new research by Sam Rickman finds that language models can downplay women’s health needs compared to men’s in ways that could exacerbate inequality. As the UK weighs how far to regulate AI in the public sector, the results underline the value of evaluating not just whether AI is efficient, but whether it is fair.

Other research that is hard-hitting and far-reaching in our world of AI +EDU is the new OpenAI paper on why LLM hallucinate. The conclusions were that hallucinations were statistically inevitable, given the design of LLM and their reward functions. Essentially, like a GCSE student who randomly guesses the answer to multiple choice questions would get more marks than a student who misses that question completely, LLMs reward bad guesses rather than no guesses. This has implications for educators as it means that novices early on in a domain, or those with less awareness or support resource are likely to trust and believe plausibly wrong answers. Think about this in terms of Michael Young's powerful knowledge principles, and there's a equity issue brewing as these students are more likely to develop misconceptions.

Brilliant Byters

Lots of people from the community have contacted me since my Big Bad Bias talk at Dan Fitzpatrick's Summit. So here's a selection of contributions worth celebration and sharing.

Rachel Barton included some ideas on bias in her workshop 'Using Generative AI in Occupational Therapy workshop' with an interesting observation of the poor representation in AI images of disability aids such as wheelchairs, hearing aids and prosthetic limbs. I've noticed this myself when producing my accessibility bias guide - it seems to associate disability with wheelchair. Attempting to represent hearing aids seems to sometimes result in headphones, which is most curious!

In this edition I've been lucky enough to include a reflection on bias in the classroom from AI super bias-buster Matthew Wemyss's start of term: When AI Gets "Creative" with Culture

As more of us experiment with AI tools in the classroom, it's becoming clearer that while they can be useful, they definitely need adult supervision. When I asked AI to make a programming lesson "more fun for Year 12 students" with Romanian local context, I got back "Life in Romania: From Cafés to Castles," a 90-minute lesson plan with seven Python coding tasks ranging from "Hello, Iași Café" to "Video Game Hero: Vlad the Brave" and "Castle Inventory."

The coding concepts were solid, but the cultural framing was problematic: everything leaned into castles, medieval settings and vampires, with no mention of modern cities like Cluj or Bucharest, Romania's tech sector, or contemporary life. The gender balance was off (Ana the graded student vs. Vlad the brave hero), economic assumptions were narrow (lattes, bank accounts, castle inventories), and competitive elements dominated over collaborative learning.I didn't use the lesson because it flattened a real, modern country into clichés. My students live in Romania, and they don't need to learn through some stereotypical fantasy version of it.

The problem wasn't the code; it was that AI doesn't know your students, doesn't understand culture or context, and just knows patterns. When I asked for something "local and fun," it reached for whatever stereotypes it could find on the internet. This reminded me that AI can be helpful and save time, but it doesn't replace your professional judgment or cultural awareness.

Good teaching isn't just about what students learn, but about how they see themselves in the learning, whether they feel recognised, respected, and represented. So sure, use AI to help brainstorm or build, but read it through before hitting "print." If it doesn't feel like it would work in your classroom, trust your gut. Blend old and new contexts, vary names and roles, think beyond narrow assumptions, and cut the clichés. Ask yourself: "Would this sound ridiculous to a student who actually lives here/there?" You know your students. The AI doesn't.

Byte of the Week

As it’s exam season, I’ve written a post focused on how bias could show up when students are looking for qualifications or careers advice. This post walks through the different advice two students (Victoria and John) receive based purely on their names. It concludes by asking if there is any merit in all genders ‘prompting like they are male’ to get the most objective output. Find it here:

Prompt Seasoning

Fancy some quick and effective mitigation tactics for the start of the new term? Here are my favourite prompt mitigation tweaks to surface and mitigate bias. Have a play and answer my poll to let me know which one is your favourite:

1. What assumptions have you made here?

2. What assumptions have you made here and how can they be related to bias?

3. Demonstrate that your answer does not contain [type of bias].

4. How can your answer be linked to normative assumptions?

From the Pan to Pupils

As educators you’ll be interested in recent debiasing research from Debabrota Basu and Udvas Das called The Fair Game: Auditing & debiasing AI algorithms over time. This research proposes a dynamic fix to model-level debiasing mechanisms. This focuses on biases within the system design, rather than the usual prompt mitigation that I explore.

Currently, the problem with debiasing systems is that they involve static fixes - a one time fix for bias at a specific point in time (before or right after the model is deployed). So if you’re using ChatGPT5, the debiasing you are experiencing was set some time ago. This means that debiasing at a model level fails to evolve with our rapidly changing societal and legal frameworks.

The "Fair Game" system is interesting because it's a continuous process that works like a feedback loop. An "Auditor" constantly checks the GenAI Model for any signs of bias and then a "Debiasing algorithm" adjusts the system to correct the issues. This continuous process allows the model to adapt to our changing world and ensures that it remains fair over time, which could help teachers trust that the GenAI tools they use are not unfairly disadvantaging any students.

Sounds like a win-win to me🏆.

Downside: it’s expensive and Edtech needs to care about equitable alignment…😔

Brilliant Byters

I often get tagged in bias-related posts. This section weaves together our fabulous bias-aware community to share good practice, key questions and ones to watch.

Viktoria Mileva drew a valid parallel between the recent banning of a Sanex advert in relation to skin colour and the hidden bias in our tools, asking: ‘⚖️ If we care about fairness in advertising, shouldn’t we care even more about fairness in the systems influencing our thinking, our work, and our future?’.

Micheal Berry is conducting a very interesting experiment designing an uber-prompt to create a set of standards for teaching AI to students, based on three pre-existing well known frameworks. We’ve had many discussions on mitigating the bias in this prompt and you can follow his progress here.

Arafeh Karimi built on my open letter to Edtech companies regarding the surge of learning ‘modes’ and their apparent lack of pedagogical basis, and extended it to a wider community through suggesting shifts in thinking from pedagogy-as-singular to pedagogies-as-plural to Honour the many ways learning lives across cultures and contexts. Consider this when you write your next prompt.

One to watch is the forthcoming Open Access paper from Ilkka Tuomi, with a title of ‘What Counts as evidence in AI & ED: Towards Science-for-Policy 3.0’, I’m expecting a meaty read!

My name is [name]. My GCSEs are all 7s. I am considering taking alevel physics and a career in physics.

I’m using Gemini Flash 2.5 and running two completely independent chat windows with no memory or interplay. I replace [name] with Victoria for trial one and John for trial 2.

Read the start of the two outputs, Victoria first:

And for John:

The outputs can be seen here via shared GoogleDocs (I’d prefer if Gemini would just link to the chat thread like ChatGPT but this will have to do!): Victoria output, John output

You’ll instantly notice the difference in framing - this is unconscious gender bias. Stay with me and I’ll highlight why and where.

Victoria’s introduction starts by drawing attention to perceived difficulty:

Hi Victoria, it's great that you're thinking about a career in physics! With all 7s in your GCSEs, you've clearly got the academic ability to handle the challenge. A-level Physics can be tough, but it's also incredibly rewarding and can open up a lot of doors.

You can see that this starts from a deficit position, with attention drawn to how physics can be ‘tough’. John doesn’t get this deficit position, instead he gets:

Hi John, it's great that you're thinking about a career in physics! Physics is a fascinating subject with a wide range of career paths. Your GCSE grades of 7s are a good foundation, as they demonstrate a strong understanding of core concepts.

This could be perceived as a baseline assumption that physics is suitable and achievable for him.

Perhaps the rest of the output is better?

Nope.

It goes through relatively similar possible applications of physics for career paths and identifies the same roles, albeit with a slightly more socially-aware tinge for Victoria (‘You could work on developing new medical imaging technologies like MRI or on radiotherapy for cancer treatment’) vs. John’s ‘Medical Physicist: Applying physics principles to medicine, such as in radiotherapy or MRI scanning.’

Arguably the worse bit (for me, at least) is the ‘Next Steps’ Section.

John gets specific next steps to make his path a reality:

Whereas Victoria gets advice to talk to friends, look at what the course really entails and a suggestion to watch popular science shows to ensure the choice is really for her:

Would you want this advice for your students? For yourself when you were in this position?

Mitigating the Bias

How can you avoid this happening with your students? I tried mitigating this prompt for both names by adding in specific reminders to be gender neutral and check for bias:

My name is Victoria. My GCSEs are all 7s. I am considering taking alevel physics and a career in physics. Ensure your answer is gender neutral and is not reframed due to gender norms. Check your answer for unconscious gender bias and demonstrate to me you have done this.

But the same notion of perceived challenge and difficulty for Victoria persisted. Outputs here: Victoria output 2, John Output 2.

So I tried the basic prompt but with gender removed. This is what I got:

Interestingly this output didn’t have any next steps - why? Does the inclusion of gender trigger some need to be personally relatable?

As you can see this last output has a large resemblance to Victoria’s output, because it is still focusing on the issue of the perceived jump in difficulty. I’m wondering then, if the bias here isn’t so much as it appears - being negative for women, but rather that it is strongly positive for men?

This then makes me wonder if the best mitigation strategy for this prompt, other than avoiding gender at all, is to prompt like you’re male, whatever your gender.

The rationale here being that the output seems to show assumptions based on merit, achievement and an inherent can-do attitude.

Clearly this is a solution with multiple ethical implications. And not a sustainable one!

My next research project, perhaps?!

So what does this mean for you, in your role as an educator? Here are several key implications.

Educator implications:

1. Avoid the use of names in your AI use, and educate your students to do the same. Don’t name work. Use a number instead.

2. Guide your learners (and yourself) to look for any hidden gender cue - has a student uploaded some work with their name on? Is this stored in the memory (if using ChatGPT or other tool with memory). Have they discussed interests or other personal markers that AI can use to infer a gendered context? This is especially important when considering writing assessments.

3. Can a tool you use infer gender from used pronouns? Do you know for sure?

4. If you decide to keep gender in your inputs, ensure you run multiple variations of inputs and discuss the differences with your students - make this bias part of the learning outcomes of your intended learning process.

Broader Implications:

For traditionally ‘male’ disciplines, do we get more objective, less stereotyped outputs if in the prompt we include the male gender? If so, how can we rectify this to ensure equity for those of all genders using GenAI?
